Privacy policy

This policy describes what The Great Delta does with your personal information, and it describes what this website actually does — not what a template says it might.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry, we store what you type into the form:

• your name
• your phone number
• your email address, if you give one — it is optional
• the number of adults and children travelling
• the tour or departure you asked about, and any dates you gave
• your message
• the language you were reading in and the page you sent it from

We also store the internet address your enquiry arrived from, to stop the same machine sending us hundreds of them.

If you message us on WhatsApp instead, we hold that conversation in WhatsApp. That is Meta's service under Meta's terms, not ours.

This website sets no cookies of its own, and carries no analytics or advertising scripts. Your choice of light or dark theme is kept in your own browser's storage and never sent to us. If you follow a campaign link that adds tracking parameters, and those parameters reach us, we store them with your enquiry so we know which advert you saw.

Staff logging in to our admin area receive a session cookie. That is not set for visitors.

Who else sees it

• Cloudflare Turnstile checks that an enquiry came from a person rather than a script. It runs in your browser and Cloudflare sees your internet address and signals about your browser. We never see the result as anything other than pass or fail.
• Resend delivers our email. An enquiry is emailed to our team, and a short acknowledgement is emailed to you if you gave an address.
• The Bangladesh Forest Department receives the passenger list — name, age, and NID or passport number — for any Sundarban departure. We cannot obtain a permit otherwise, and we send only what the permit requires.

Nobody else. We do not sell your information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not send you marketing you did not ask for.

Why we are allowed to hold it

We hold it to answer your enquiry and to arrange the trip you asked about — that is the contract between us. The passenger list goes to the Forest Department because the law requires it before a permit is issued. Nothing here is used for anything else.

How long we keep it

An enquiry that does not become a booking is deleted after 24 months. Records of an actual booking are kept for 5 years after the trip, which is what the record-keeping rules require of us.

Your rights

Under the Personal Data Protection Act, 2026 you may ask us to:

• show you the personal data we hold about you
• correct anything inaccurate or misleading
• delete it, when we no longer need it for the purpose you gave it for
• stop processing it, by withdrawing your consent
• send it to you, or to another organisation, in a usable format

Write to us at [EMAIL ADDRESS] or through the contact page. We will answer within 30 days. There is no charge. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the supervisory authority appointed under that Act.

Keeping it safe

Your enquiry is stored on our own server, in Bangladesh, and reaches it over an encrypted connection. Access is limited to the people who need it to run a trip, each with their own account, and we keep a record of that access. If personal data is ever lost or exposed in a way likely to cause you harm, we will tell you and the authority.
