Three days into the Sundarbans by ship, from Khulna. There is no road into the forest — Explorer 1 is your hotel, your dining room and your viewing platform for the whole trip. All meals, the Forest Department permits and the guide are in the price.

Day 1: Khulna to Harbaria, then on to Kotka
6:00 am Our guide meets you at Jelkhana Ghat or Ghat No. 4 and takes you aboard; settle into your cabin · 6:30 welcome drink · 7:00 the ship leaves Khulna · 8:00 semi-buffet breakfast · 11:00 snacks, tea and coffee · 11:30–12:30 Dhangmari forest station, the first gate into the Sundarbans; permits checked, forest guards aboard · 1:30 pm lunch · 3:00–4:00 ashore at Andharmanik or Harbaria eco-tourism centre — watchtower, the boardwalk through the mangrove, pugmarks in the mud if the forest is willing · 5:00 back aboard and away towards Kotka, with afternoon snacks on deck
Day 2: Kotka, Jamtola beach, Kochikhali and Dimer Char
6:00 am at sunrise out in small boats into Kotka's narrow canals, engines off — the hour for birds, and for hearing deer move · 6:15 Kotka watchtower, herds of deer, then the walk through the mangrove to Jamtola beach · 8:30 breakfast · 9:00 Kotka forest office and the grassland around it · 10:30 away for Kochikhali · 11:00 snacks · 1:30 pm lunch · 3:30 Kochikhali sanctuary — forest office, deer, dolphins in the river · 4:30 by small boat to Dimer Char: open sand, deep forest on every side, sunset over the Bay of Bengal · 5:30 back aboard, light snacks · evening barbecue dinner on deck, then the ship sails overnight for Karamjal.
Day 3: Karamjal and back to Khulna
8:00 am breakfast · 9:30 Karamjal — the boardwalk through the forest, the deer and crocodile breeding centre, the watchtower · 11:00 back aboard, away for Khulna · 11:30 snacks · 2:30 pm lunch · 5:30 alongside at Khulna ghat. End of the trip.

Questions
Honest Note
Royal Bengal tigers live throughout this forest but are seen by very few visitors. Most guests come back with pugmarks in the mud rather than a tiger — and with deer, crocodiles, dolphins, macaques and a great many birds. We would rather you travel with the right expectation than come home disappointed.
Booking and cancellation
The Great Delta is not a booking engine. Nothing on this website takes your money, and no seat is held by filling in a form. A booking exists only when we have confirmed it to you in writing and received your deposit.
How a booking is made
- Send us an enquiry through the form on this site, or message us on WhatsApp, with your dates, the number of travellers and any children's ages.
- We reply with availability, the price for your party, and exactly what is and is not included on that departure.
- If you want the seats, we hold them for 48 hours while you pay the deposit.
- We confirm the booking in writing. That written confirmation, not this page, is your contract with us.
- The balance is due 7 days before departure. For a booking made inside 7 days, the full amount is due at once.
Deposit
A deposit of 30% of the total confirms a booking. It covers costs we commit to on your behalf — vessel or vehicle hire, permits, and the guide's time — from the moment we confirm your seats to somebody else's exclusion.
Prices
Prices are per person in Bangladeshi taka, for the group size and sharing arrangement named in your confirmation. A price quoted in an enquiry holds for 7 days. Until we confirm a booking, prices can change — most often because a vessel operator or the Forest Department changes a fee.
What a price includes is printed on each tour's page, and that page is what governs. If a tour page and this page disagree, the tour page wins.
What we need from you
For any departure into the Sundarbans we must file a passenger list with the Forest Department before we are issued a permit. We will ask for each traveller's full name, age and NID or passport number. We cannot obtain a permit without them, and a permit cannot be changed after it is issued — so late name changes mean a new permit, at your cost.
Tell us at the time of booking about any medical condition, allergy, dietary requirement or mobility need. Several of our routes spend hours away from a road.
Paying
We accept bank transfer, bKash and Nagad. Bank charges are yours. Send the transaction reference with your payment so we can match it to your booking. We will always confirm receipt in writing — if you have not had a written confirmation, assume the payment has not reached us and contact us.
